Oakfall cautiously padded on the path of moonpool. Her face was solemn and her paws were silent. She reached the pool, and layed down beside it. Silverpelt shining brightly above her and calmed her shaking flank. She closed her eyes and touched her nose to the icy water. As soon as she did this a wave of freezing water washed over her, and she found the rock she had been laying on disolve into a grassy medow. Suddenly 9 bright stars decended from Silverpelt and as they drew closer they took shape of 9 cats. She slowly recegnized all but one of them.
The first to meet her was a cat with a shiny gray pelt, her mother, Streamstripe. Oakfall meowed in delight. "Streamstripe! I thought I'd nev-" but Oakfall was cut short as Streamstripe brushed her tail across Oakfalls mouth. "We will talk later." said Streamstripe and Oakfall fell silent.
"I give you the gift of love, you may not be able to kit, but you can love. You can love the clan and love all in it, like your own kits. Use my gift darling, use it wisely." With her last words she turned to join the other cats.
The next to come was a proud brown cat, with rippling muscles. Oakfall's father, Clawface. "Clawface, I didn't know- I thought you lived!" sputtered Oakfall. "Hush, darling. My death was a secret, only one cat knew, and she hadn't the heart to tell you." Streamstripe looked at her paws, guiltily.
"Oakfall, I give you the gift of power. Your clan will respect you and always look up to you." He stepped back and joined Streamstripe.
Then a third figure came up. He had orange fur and was small, a kit they one she didn't recognize. She put a curious stare on him, and he smiled, which made Oakfall feel protected. "I am Firekit. You never met me, I died in birth. I give you the gift of courage. When things go wrong, you must prevail, and you can." He dipped his head an stepped back.
Then a cat with a pelt that looked navy in the moonlight. "Bluepaw!" exclaimed Oakfall, excited to see her sister. Bluepaw approached, and her pelt looked soaked. Oakfall stared and Bluepaw started to laugh. "I have always loved water, even if it killed me! Dear sister, I give you the gift of humor. May you use it to be a loved leader, may the clan be fond of you, and wish to obey your orders." Bluepaw stepped back and laughed.
Then an older cat stepped up, he had yellow fur and orange stripes. It was Strawclaw. Oakfall's brother spoke clearly, "Sibling, I give you confidence, may you believe in yourself and never doubt." As he stepped back he added quietly, "You will be a great leader."
The next one to step up looked like Strawclaw, except with no orange stripes and a broader head. It was an old foe of Oakfall, one who had tryed to kill her. "Sandheart.", she whispered. Now Sandheart had a smile on her face and her claws were sheathed. "Daring, I hope you have forgiven me." she said softly. "I give you the gift of cleverness, to outsmart your foes at all times." Sandheart stepped back with a smile, and Oakfall felt like their boundaries no longer existed.
Then another of her old enimies stepped foward. This time it was a black cat with a white underside. It was no other than old Skullface. He steppeed foward and gave a glare. Then he broke into a smile, "May you be wise. I was not when I kitnapped you. May you be smart with your choices." As he stepped back, the scars he bore from Clawface shined in the moonlight. But surprisingly Skullface retreated to Clawface's side. They seemed the best of friends.
Then a 33 moon old cat stepped foward slowly. She had fur sticking up in all directions. Oakfall realized it was Burrbramble. She was an old queen who had nurtured her after Streamstripe died. She was an old family friend who loved Oakfall very much. "Oakfall, you will always be my precious kit in my eyes. I give you pity. May you take many under your wing, as I did you." Her big blue eyes made Oakfall feel cared for, as Burrbramble stepped back.
The last cat to come to her was Darkenstep, he was a small cat, black all over. "Uncle!" cried Oakfall, and she felt pierced, because she had been the one who souldn't run fast enough to the medicine cat in the battle to save him. "I wish to give you leadership. YOu will lead the clan greatly. Now we pronounce you Oakstar." He stepped back and all the cats murmered "Oakstar of riverclan." They left and returned to silverpelt, and Oakstar opened her eyes to see the moonpool in front of her. She sat up and said, "I am Oakstar, I must lead riverclan.", then she got on her feet, and left the pool.
