History:
A small girl sat on the roof just above the window leading into the dark bedroom on the other side. The sounds of the crickets seemed to sing as she watched the lake just through the trees; the moon's reflection shimmered as it rested on top of the lake.
The howls of a wolf pack drowned out the crickets, breaking into her thoughts, their voices full of pain as she could hear them getting closer for they were just next to her side of the lake. The only thing that made her look away from the peaceful lake was the crashing noises she heard from the living room downstairs, where her father was acting out; drunk.
The girl saw the bushes moving below, and two wolves came out, the others still by the lake. Both were black as the darkenss of the night, although one was larger than the other. The small girl knew exactly who they were, and smiled as the larger carried the other and came up the usual way to stay beside her.
"Dawn, Alerik just wanted to remind you that you are welcome with the Pack. Your father,"
The girl, Dawn, shook her head and spoke in a soft, loving tone, to the she-wolf. "You know I can't do that Kalyn; unless he lets me leave, I can't; not after what happened to mother." Dawn paused, and noticed the black wolf's head bow down.
The girl knew she had inherited her mother's shape-shifting abilities, as well as the one to speak to the animals; but Dawn always remembered her mother telling her she was a special girl and could do things even she couldn't. Dawn did find that out when she froze the lake while she was in it, and never caught a cold.
Looking back up at the moon, Dawn continued where she left off; "You see, I'm leaving to go with my cousin Madeline. She lives near here and actually lives in the town near the territory, so I'll be closer, and can come to visit." She stopped when she felt a weight leap onto her back.
It was the pup, the one that Alerik, the Alpha Male, allowed her to name. It was always rare for an Alpha to allow someone besides himself to name his children. But the pup always seemed to dance when she walked, or hunted, she was graceful. And for that she was named Grace.
A yell was heard from down stairs, startling the three, and even scaring Grace. "Dawna! Get down here, your leaving!" It was her father, Steve, and Dawn could even hear the 'Good Ridence' that he said afterwards.
Dawn was seven, and her father was giving her up. It actually made her feel good, because she never wanted to be anywhere with her father after he had shot Alexis, her mother. Steve had always known about the powers that ran in the family, and knew who he had shot when the wolf fell.
Leaving the two black wolves, Dawn crawled back through her window, grabbed her stuff, and ran outside; nearly crashing into Madeline herself. Getting in the car, Dawn left her father to go to a new home.
---------------------------------------------------
Four years had gone by, not a word from her father, and Dawn was as happy as she could have been. Except when Madeline found out about her powers. But a day later, Madeline said she was already used to it, Maddie had hoped that Dawn wouldn't have taken after the family ancestory.
Thats when Dawn found out that Maddie was blind, and her powers were to see and hear things with the earth and the air. She couldn't manipulate those like Dawn could, but she could see and fight without using her eyes.
Maddie had put Dawn in a Martial Arts Class with her best friend as the teacher. And after a year of excessive training, Dawn was able to teach others as a Black-belt. As well as be able to use a sword like a master in history.
It was December, and Dawn was outside practicing on wooden dumbies when Maddie jumped up to answer the door when it rang. Suddenly Dawn heard a quick notion come from Maddie, "Dawn go to your room, quickly, hide, and act like you aren't here."
Dawn had wondered what was making Madeline so jumpy, until she heard the sound of a rough man's voice, as he walked into their home and started asking questions.
"Why, Madeline, I havn't seen you in years, how have you been? How is Dawn? I'm here to take her back home."
It was Steven, her father, looking through the cracked door, Dawn could see Maddie speaking to her father, but couldn't hear what was being said. Yet Dawn figured it was something to do with her, when Steven narrowed his eyes and shoved her to the floor.
A look from Maddie made Dawn stop from walking out of her room and shoving her blade through him. Yet when she looked away from Madeline, her father was gone.
-----------------------------------------------
She never saw him again until the next afternoon when she began her walk home from school after she got word that Maddie was dying in the hospital; a car accident is what the doctor had said. But Dawn knew better than that, Dawn knew that her father had sabatoged the car.
Next thing she knew, a large hand had grabbed her arm. Turning around, Dawn saw her father, a wild and mad look in his eyes. "Your coming with me young lady," he said with an angry tone. Yet, when Dawn started to protest, he gripped her harder and spoke again. "You are my daughter, you will do as I say, and you will be making me rich now that Madeline can't stop me."
Those words he said had gone to far, he was not going to kill Madeline, kill her mother, and use her without concequences. Dawn could feel her anger rising, her arm turning a clear blueish-white color as if of ice. Yet, that didn't frighten Steve, no it was the fact that her eyes were incasing themselves in a dark, black color, the white and the iris completely gone.
Her canine teeth became sharper points as the anger she had caused the ice to become dry and burn her father's skin at the touch. The only thing she wanted now was for him to feel the pain she was going through, and all of it as well.
When her father let go, Dawn grabbed him instead, causing him to burn where she touched him, and before she knew it, Dawn felt him go limp and fall to the ground when she released him. Realizing what she had done, she regained control and turned to walk away slowly before muttering to herself and out loud.
"You were never my father," and when she finished, she started to a run and changed into her wolf form before joining her other family inside the forest. Greeted by an elderly Kalyn and a grown Grace with toothy smiles.
