Nightfeather opened her eyes, she streched them wide. The bright sun, a golden disk burning in the azure sky made her eyes water. Love, hmmm.... Nightfeather frowned, Love... She put her dainty paws in front of her, she started kneeding the ground. Love... Love. She pulled her paws underneath herself and rested her head.
Love...

Hardsoul walked and sat beside Nightfeather. His eyes were hurt by the glare of the new sun. He blinked a few times and broke the silky silence, "Thinking hard aren't you..." he said, staring at the new disk of light. "I am afraid of something I do not know," A questioning look crossed his face. "I feel like it creeps behind me when I am not looking and claws me in the back." Passion... He frowned. This isn't me...

Nightfeather looked beside her and saw Hardsoul, she looked at him with the blank stare she gave the sun. The corners of her mouth curved upward slightly, "Tell me something I don't know. There is always that one lone thing trying to trap you." She turned her head and her eyes turned to golden slits, she pulled her lips over her teeth, they shone brightly in the sun. She truely looked menacing. The snarl still attatched to her face Nightfeather tenced like an invisable enemy was waiting in the shadows, stalking her, patiently waiting for her to move. Im delusional, stop it. There's no one there. Stop it! stop it, stop it, stop it!

"I'm not looking to argue with you Nightfeather. You have intellegence, but don't leap all over me." He fixed her with an arrogent eye. "You won't understand, so you may as well not try." Hardsoul closed himself up, he wanted no part of her mindreading, he just wanted a clear conversation, like on Half-bridge, before those Frogtumn cats came. "I don't want to fight you Nightfeather." he replied in a stern voice. He softened, "But you are just as sane as me. You are tense and looking for a foe." Hardsoul kept his gaze on the sun. "If i am disurbing you i try not to, i do it to everyone." Hardsoul layed down with his paws tucked neatly under him.

"Just try me," Nightfeather slowly untensed, muscles relaxing with every second. "Tell me what's on your mind," she said slowly, softly. "I don't want to fight you." The words echoed through her mind. I don't want to fight me too. Or you. She turned her scorching liquid gold gaze on Hardsoul, waiting for an answer.

Hardsoul wanted to tell her about his feeling of passion for a mate. He wanted so hard to love someone and be reckless. But he had made himself clear at the apprentice ceremony. She'd laugh at him like all would. wouldn't she? "Nightfeather, I wish I had a mate, I want to be careless and feel like someone cares. I am changing, whether I want to or not." Hardsoul turned his gaze from the sun to Nightfeather. His eyes burned and he shook his head to clear it.

She saw the resistence to tell her in his eyes, she felt a lot of things. Her gaze didn't waver, it was still burning. "Don't we all. Nightfeather felt as if her answer would hurt him, he's only saying what's on his mind. I wish I could fall out of a tree again. Nightfeather grimmaced hugely at the memory of the antagonizing pain. I can't hurt anyone anymore if that happens. I'll only hurt myself. "I was thinking of the subject of love before you came actaully."
Please... Don't leave me.. I'm so tired, so hurt, confused. Her thoughts whirled through her head, "Your very nice company actually,"

I HATE THIS FEELING! But I like it... Hardsoul turned back to face the sun, "You are the only company I need Nightfeather." Hardsoul needed her more than she knew. But she could mindread, so maybe she did. His eyes were a soft gaze and he spoke without thinking, "Will you be my mate?"

Nightfeather was extremely astonished from Hardsoul's invitation. She focused her gaze on Hardsoul, eyes turning to golden slits. "You want to love me? Out of all of the other females out there; you chose me. I'm death's mistress for Starclan's sake." She kept her gaze, light and slightly wavering. She didn't know how she felt actually, she had fooled around with other toms in the past to snake into their lives and learn all of their secrets; it was almost second nature to her, she didn't want to do that to Hardsoul.
For once in Nightfeather's life she felt sad and happy and angry at the same time; sad because Hardsoul needed her, his eyes said it all, happy because she could leave her horrible past behind and start over and angry because she didn't want to do anything; she wanted to drift away doing nothing.
Her eyes moved across the small den swiftly; the small space and the heat and the smell was suffocating her. Her mind closed up and she imagined herself on a rock moving not even a mouse length.
Oh no... Oh no, oh no, oh no...
Nightfeather's other piece of mind took over; the more seductive, sly one. A smile grew on her face; wicked and ghastly. "Tell me love," she crooned, "Why Nightfeather?"
You have stolen my heart Hardsoul! No! Nightfeather stop! I love him! No!! I'm no good! RUN AWAY HARDSOUL! RUN AWAY! I'LL ATTACK!
Nightfeather was on the rock screaming as loud as she could but she doubted Hardsoul could hear her.
Obviously genious, your screaming in your head. Who the hell can read minds by listening really closely. God!
And there she sat, motionless. Trying to get to a happy place.
Claws unsheathed extremely slowly as if to avoid detection.
Hearts pounded in unison.
Smile...
And get ready love...
[oh and sorry, i feel like i have two sides to me today and since what happened to Nightie in her apprenticeship was so tramatizing she got like two seperate minds. Again sorry if there was any confussion! XD]

He felt like a coward and a hero at the same time, Hardsoul did. He was a coward because her crooning had hurt him, yet a hero because he had overcome the hardest things in his life.
Why did you DO THAT? YOU'RE A FOOL!
I did what I had to!
You have to follow that stupid she-cat! She isn't any part of your future!
NO! Love is in my destiny!
You are weak...
Hardsoul looked back to Nightfeather. "I like you because you know hard times and you can defend yourself from the darkness! In your mind is what is holding you back! Emerge from the darkness Nightfeather, be free. But I do not beg." His voice was rough, but his eyes were somewhere in another dimesion. He was ashamed of the way his heart ached. Something was different, but for the greater good?

Nightfeather tried to move from the rock, to her disapointment; she couldn't budge. It was like she was welded to the rock. "NO!" Nightfeather on the mind rock screamed. "NO! No, no, no, no! She's going to hurt you! Get away from me!..."
Present Nightfeather let her claws extend all the way out, she reached out and scratched the den wall; long and hard. "Emerge from the darkness? Be Free? Why love, I already am!" She brought her long claws to her throat, grazing the section of fur and muscle and skin and felt the pounding of blood and the beat of her heart. "That sound sounds so foreign to me," she laughed and she pulled her claws along her throat blood realeasing from the wounds. Nightfeather cackled and choked as the blood flowed freely, dampening the small space with the colour, feel and the scent of blood.
"AH!..." Nightfeather on the rock wailed, imaginary wounds opening up and blood spilled out. It ran down the rock like it was playing a game. She hit her paw hard on the rock, claws outstreched and they actually sank into the rock. "What the...?"
Present Nightfeather blanked, her eyes bulged. "ARGH!" she shrieked, she fell to the ground panting and trying to suck in air. "Hellcat," she spat, struggling to get to her paws.
Nightfeather on the rock felt the trembling of the other she-cat. "Yes..." she trailed off. She racked her extremely long claws down the sides and around the rock.
"ARGH!!"
"YES!"
"ARGH! CAT! COME OUT AND FACE ME!"
Nightfeather on the rock fell as the rock split in two. "Oh God..."
Present Nightfeather's mind snapped, she fell to the ground and faded away, Mother? she thought. Nightmare? Is that you?
...
Nightfeather woke up, screaming. "Hardsoul!" she breathed, her voice cracking in several places. "Hardsoul, I need you. My mind is crazy, it's killing me." She got up and pressed her bloody midnight black pelt up to his. "I will,"

Hardsoul blinked, soaked up the facts. "Nightfeather, why? Why are you haunted like so? You are not what you mean to be." He pressed his pelt back against hers, "Nightfeather, we both need each other." He watched the sunlight. "come with me to someplace else. You look like you've been fighting Thunderclan all night. The clan will be suspicious." He glanced at the entrance to the den. Voices outside were drawing nearer. He left for a moment and came back with some wet moss. He pressed it against her wound and it soaked up most of her blood. Then he let out a sigh,
What would the clan think of the death mistress and loyal warrior together?

Nightfeather nodded her head, it felt like led at the moment. "Take me anywhere," she sighed. Her body was lethargic with the loss of blood and her paws dragged across the ground as she tried to make her way out of the small den. Nightfeather screeched as she suddenly collapsed, then did she feel the pain of her wounds. Looking down at her long claws; her own blood on them, made her moan in protest. This can't be my blood. No, no, no. Nightmare, help me...
Nightfeather gave one hiss of unhappiness and then blacked out slowly. She unconsciously streched her neck and her neck wound broke open; blood flowing freely down her body. She then thought about Hardsoul. She brought as much strength she could through her sleepy haze. "Let.. Me... Sleep... For a... Whi... While..." she sighed content with her fading sense of mind. She knew that if she didn't act fast then she would die, she didn't want that. Nightfeather wanted to have a long life, a warrior, a mate... She wanted life. I DON'T WANT TO DIE! NO! NO, NO, NO, NO! ... Maybe this was the other Nightfeather's passing gift. Death. She hissed weakly at the thought. Death. I'll kill you myself, she mentally hissed. "Evil Angel," she croaked thinking of the other Nightfeather and Death combined. "I'll get you..." and she faded out.
[do not want her to die so try to help or something ]

((What?!?!))
Hardsoul shook his head, confused. "Nightffeather!" he yelped, as she collapsed. He flicked his tail into her fur, it was growing colder, or, he thought is was. He wasn't a medicine cat. He ran out of the den and into the madicine den. Empty. Then he turned back around, but camp was empty. Where was everyone! He grabed some moss soaked with water and squeezed it out over Nightfeather's face, hoping to keep her awake. Then he poured more water down her throat and on her torn throat. How could he save her? ((I have no idea what to do, so be patient with me plez?))

[srry, put cobwebs on the wound, srry again. I'm really hyper or something.]
Nightfeather's eyes shot open. "What?!" she coughed, throat burning. "Hardsoul... Cobwebs!" she choked out, trying to roll on her back. She tilted her head back and extended her neck upwards. "Get cobwebs please..."
