There was no sound, save for the occasional lonesome croak; a prince searching for its mate on the gentle evergreen waves lapping hungrily at the banks of the lake. Fallen warriors shone warily in the abyss of a noire sanctuary just overhead, and wanderers spiraled down from the treetops left at peace on the wind, ending their journey. The moon tonight was inviting, casting a gloom reflection on the dark waters and giving only just enough light. Inviting enough, however, that a vagabond tom would dare to tread.
A golden pelted figure emerged from the blackness that embraced the entire woodland. Tame pawsteps were careful not to draw attention to him as he neared the Half Bridge, creeping out across the dock until he was almost at the edge before he stopped abruptly to stare out to the other end of where the lake ceased. Amber eyes lifted to watch Silverpelt in peace and away from the camp where snores filled his den. This night would be restless.
