Nightfeather watched Shadowstorm run off to do whatever, and turned to look at Hardsoul, laughed and her face turned up into a seductive, slow smile, "Not anymore," she retorted in an acidic tone. "But," she started with piercing, liquid gold eyes, "Maybe we can fix that.." she lead off, gracefully sliding back to her position on the dock.

Her eyes were like pools of honey in the light. "Well," he hissed, "What broke up the party? " He was eager for her response and slid gracefully over to where she was sitting. "We wouldn't want to hurt anyones feelings, would we..." his eyes looked so evil you coul have sworn he belonged to the dark forest. He sounded exactly like his father. His eyes were like glitering stones and his mind was swirling with ideas. His voice was like staem coming from a kettle.

Nightfeather stared lazily into the deep water below and answered slowly, curving each word to her mouth, "Shadowstorm went to do Staclan knows what in the camp, I am just here, I did nothing. He left on his own choosing." Nightfeather looked again, gold eyes smoldering, "What brings you here to the half-bridge? Wait..." she looked at Hardsoul with hard eyes, the gold like hard flint, no more liquidy smoothness. She looked at his eyes and through him, Why? she asked mentally and then found her answer, "Alone time..." she murmered, "Thinking?" she said in a hard bleak tone, her constant mood changes kept her mind spinning from all of the processing. Nightfeather waited for Hardsoul's retort. He's probably going to claw my ear off, she thought her face contorting into a discusted sneer.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I came to half-bridge to think about my next moves and there is no guilt in it." Hardsoul was defient, he wasn't going to be put down that easily. But he wasn't going to claw her ears off, yet. "I come to the half-bridge and I do so freely." His eyes were no longer like glittering stones but like a boulders and refused to be the windows to the soul. But Hardsoul had a hard soul that no one could break or hurt, he had been hurt to far already. "I believe we both came here to think." Her eyes could be just as decieving as his.

"Ha!" Nightfeather laughed, "Don't lie to me Hardsoul, I have had many moons to perfect what I see in cat's eyes, you give yourself away, pain, and lifelessness is what I see." she stopped short and put on a wicked grin, "Don't feel bad," she purred, "I can read a lot of cats, its second nature to me. So tell me..." Nightfeather looked up and her eyes melted, liquid gold, care and love radiating from every hair on her pelt, her voice sweet and seductive, "Tell me why, why is it that you have pain inflicted on you?" she kept her gaze waiting for an answer.

"You do have a second-nature of reading the eyes Nightfeather, I admit that." Hardsoul wasn't about to become mad and break down. It would be like losing a battle. He remained calm and resumed his position. "I have thought of my sister alot and you remind me excatly of her. Not of her talking, but of being able to see my thoughts. My family and father have haunted me recently and I believe they are trying to tell me something is going to happen, but I don't know what. For, I am nor a medice cat or a leader, so what am I to interpret dreams may I ask?" He said these words truly and not a word of it was a lie. "But surly, mindreader, you know this, do you not? Nightfeather, you have had pain infliced upon you in your apprenticeship, I can read your eyes just as well. That is why you are so, so determined to search another's soul."

"You see me well," Nightfeather said with a wary expression. She stared at Hardsoul for a long moment, sighed and started to hum, "Sing to the bird I did, make myself one of the cats with the worst reputation, I did... But I didn't want to..." She stared into the water again and waited for Hardsoul to say something, anything.

Hardsoul felt sorry for the cat, for a second. Then, he remembered his kin and past. "We are quite even then, aren't we?" there wasn't a hint of dislike in his tone. He silently wished she wouldn't turn on him. "We both have had hard experiences, so I suggest we stop trying to wipe a smirk of the others face." He sat on the half-bridge and waited for her response. He wished she wouldn't claw his ears off, because he'd just shown his soft side. His eyes were like liquid rock now, no longer like boulders.

Nightfeather snarled and put the full force of her gaze on Hardsoul. "Never, and I say never say that we are even!" she turned her glare toward the sky and hissed, "I have done more than you ever could! Cats said that when I passed by plants they wilted! They think I am death's mistress. So please," she paused turning back to him, inner sadness clouding her eyes. "We shall never be even." Nighfeather felt sad for a fraction a heartbeat and then turned back to anger, I only wish you wouldn't understand...

Hardsoul emotions hardened. "You think you have had a tough life? My sister was hidden in a rabbit hole and now the clan doesn't even respect one that has passed away! We were both apprentices when we were cut! You have it great other than your reputation! If someone were to say when I walk by flowers and they wilt I'd have power! You have power! Not one of us is weak, we have been strengthened by our differences and lives!" Hardsoul was hardened, but understood Nightsoul's outburst. "If you were to mention my sister in a bad way I would throw you into the lake and make sure you'd drown!" his tone softnened."Maybe both our pasts are important to us, but the other doesn't realize it." He had never spoken to a cat like this! But if all she could turn towards him was anger, he could return the favor quite gladly. "If we overcome these events, we could be powerful, if I could overcome my past, I would NEVER be beaten." He paced on half-bridge and his tail flicked with anticipation. "We have both had hard times with the clan," he spoke sternly. "But you are right when you say I don't know your exact pain, but it is not up to us to be judging each other until we have walked the others pawsteps. His eyes were fiery and his mind was planning, planning, scheming...

Nightfeather's gold eyes were like liquid pools as she searched Hardsoul. Ancient sadness pierced them, they grew very bright yet hazy. Every muscle in her body relaxed and she said in only a whisper. "When I turned away from the light I was left bleeding, no one was there to stitch me back up. I felt like a broken bird awaiting the kill. You had others to share your feelings of being teased and what it was like. I had no one..." she hissed out the last part, body tensing. Nightfeather realxed and continued. "I could not pull someone under with me, I vowed on that, I vowed on my life that I would never, ever go for the kill. I would only torture within an inch of life. "And the funny thing is," she half smiled even though it didn't reach her tortured eyes. "I'm still bleeding..." She continued to gaze at Hardsoul and said barely a hiss, "What will you do? What you do is what will change history, fate even."

Hardsoul was satisfied. "I will change my future, become powerful! But perhaps not evilly like I had planned." Hardsoul stared at his paws. All he wanted to do was to become a loyal clan member when he was young, but he had gown bloodtirsty and power-hungr. He silently vowed to change his ways and tried to stop the conversation. "Would you like to forget we ever had this conversation and go hunting?" he asked. "I bet I could catch more prey." He hoped his challenge would lighten her mood and be uplifting. He touched his tail to her shoulder reasuringly and silently wished she would take on the challenge.

"Hunting, with you. I shall," Nightfeather got up gracefully and glided silently toward the forest. She half turned and looked at Hardsoul, playfulness showing in her bright liquid gold eyes. "Coming?" Nightfeather put on a warm smile and waited. He wants me to accept? Why me?

Hardsoul looked back at Nightfeather and then the forest. "Of course I'm coming!"he yowled and shot towords the forest at lightning speed. Nightfeather was at his heels(he hoped).

Nightfeather smiled, she ran after Hardsoul and finally caught up. Nightfeather pulled out her crooked grin, "I feel so young!" she laughed and put on a burst of speed passing Hardsoul slightly. "I feel nothing but the wind in my fur, the ground connecting with my paws and you." Nightfeather smirked in Hardsoul's general direction.
