Fernstar sat in her den thinking. Perhaps the apprentices should be given mentors soon. she told herself that she would do that soon, but not now. Spearpaw! she called to her apprentice.

Spearpaw darted out of the woods and into the clearing, stopping in front of Fernstar. Yes? she asked, bowing in greeting to her leader.

Mudstorm leaped into Fernstar's den and gave the apprentice a look that spelled out I-need-to-talk-to-Fernstar-privately-now! She waited untill the apprentice left to state her case, "Fernstar! I need to go to the next gathering" She probably looked as if she was crazy but she needed to find that cat and it hit her like a bite to the neck, the cat that saved her all those moons ago must have come from Riverclan, if he swims he's Riverclan! She looked at Fernstar to see what she would say. Oh she hoped she said yes!
