Briarstar listened to her compainion speak and tell of her tale, it actually didn't sound to different from her own. It seemed like both she-cats didn't do something they should have and ended up losing at least one cat they held dear; in Rayne's case, it was her father and brother.
As the brown she-cat listened to Rayne's story come to an end, Briarstar nodded to her, accepting the truth that she had been told. Personally, the RiverClan leader didn't care if the gray feline was meeting her sister here; it was close enough to the Twoleg Nest that her warriors souldn't bother them. The brown she-cat flicked her ears and opened her mouth in a kind way when Rayne once again apologized.
"I don't know what you are apologizing for, if you don't know something, I can't hold that against you. I was just taking precaution so I could let you know if we couldn't give something you would have expected." Briarstar moved her tail around to the other side of her body, shifting in the process.
"Now I need to let you know the basics of what my Clan can give you, but also what we would have to take away."
Briarstar didn't mean for her words to sound as confusing as they may have been, but just as it always has gone, if you get something, something is always taken away in the transaction.
"We will start with the bad; yet really there are only three things. The first, would be in Leaf-bare, when the snow falls; we wouldn't be able to give you as much food as we could now. The second is, if you trained as a warrior and you were needed to defend our Camp, you would have the possibility of getting badly wounded or worse, dead. Also, it would take a while for the Clan to accept a Loner as yourself in our Clan." Briarstar said with a short pause afterewards. "The last thing would be, you would have to take up an apprentice's name. You would no longer go by the name you use now, you would gain a name like our other apprentices until you became a warrior."
Briarstar listed off a couple names of her Clan apprentices; she mentioned Tigerpaw, how he was named for his tiger-stripped pelt. As well as she mentioned her warrior friend and deputy Fawnfeather.
"There are some pros to joining though. You would have a home, and you shouldn't worry about not being accepted; cause as leader of my Clan, my word is law, if I say you are a member of my Clan, you are. One plus side to be in the Clan, is that you wouldn't be attacked by a warrior of mine as you woldn't be a Loner any longer.
As well as in a fight, your Clan-mates will always have your tail. So I will say, if you joined RiverClan, I would have to take you there and announce your arrival and joinage of our Clan, give you your apprentice name and a mentor, and let StarClan lead our paths."
Briarstar stood, it was starting to get dark out, and she was sure someone in her Clan was worried about where she was as she was supposed to be back by Sunhigh. She didn't want one of her warriors to catch Rayne out here but she will alert the Clan that if they see the grey she-cat and she askes about Briarstar to send someone to get her.
"Now that it is getting late, I should probably head back to Camp. I will alert my warriors to be on the look-out for you to consider the offer that stands, and if you run into a patol and need to speak with me, tell them and I will be sent for. I will give you until next moon to decide. If you choose before then, let me know."
Briarstar turned and began stalking towards the location of her camp, before she realized she had been rude about one thing and turned around to go back to the gray she-cat. "Terribly sorry, I didn't mean to walk off like that. Did you have any questions for me before I leave?"
She sat down once again to wait for Rayne's reply, just hoping and praying to StarClan that a patrol of her warriors wouldn't come by until they were both gone.

Rayne
Rain, rain, go away... All the world is waiting for the sun. Rayne listened intently to Briarstar’s description of the Clans. She’d been interested with how they function for a long while; this was her first insight on the whole matter, and she was genuinely excited. The brown she-cat began with the bad, and Rayne found herself not entirely liking this part. She didn’t mind the food; she could go a while without eating, that was no big deal. In fact, as a rogue, she had to continually look out for predators and hunt at the same time, which wasn’t very easy, so she often went long periods of time without food. The next thing on the bad list was something Rayne expected. If her Clan were attacked, she’d be needed to defend it, with the cost of either being dangerously wounded, or lost her life altogether. Rayne had spent many moons observing the inner workings of Clan life, and respected how quickly they all reacted to an attack. She’s been ready for that for a long time now. She wouldn’t mind being injured on behalf of RiverClan. What she hadn’t been accounting on was the fact that she’d need to be an apprentice first. Rayne’s excitement faded a bit, though after a moment of thought, she knew it was probably for the best. This way, the other cats wouldn’t have to automatically accept her as one of their fellow warriors; she’d get a chance to prove herself as an apprentice, rightfully earning her warrior name through the whole process. Gotta start at the bottom and work our way up, eh? Cass sneered. Bring it on. The brown leader began naming off a few apprentices within the Clan, and describing how their name represents how they look, or something like that; Rayne couldn’t hear all of it because of Cass’ mental ramblings. Cass was already trying to figure out a name for herself. We need something cool like… Storm or something like that. I dunno, what do you think? Rayne sighed at her other half and commented on how they probably wouldn’t be able to pick their own names; Briarstar would more than likely pick it out for them. Cass sulked, though she knew Rayne was right. Briarstar continued with a list of the attributes of joining a Clan. Every single item on the list sounded as sweet as honey to the small gray she-cat. She could barely contain her excitement. A home, protection, friends… What more could she want? She definitely wanted to join now. The RiverClan leader gave her specific instructions on how to contact her, and she made sure to pay attention to them carefully, before the brown she-cat began walking away. Rayne was sad to see the Clan cat go, and stood up to leave herself. It was obvious now that her sister wasn’t coming. Before she could leave, however, Briarstar returned and asked if she had any questions. Rayne ran through everything in her head quickly, thinking of anything she wasn’t quite sure on. A small thought bubble made her way into her mind, and she shied away from it, but it persisted. It was Cass giving her ideas, actually, and she didn’t want to ask this. “What if…” She said quietly, looking down. “I already… Know my answer?”

Briarstar watched the gray she-cat with shining amber eyes, wondering what she was thinking about. The brown she-cat didn't know if until the next moon was to long of a time or if it was to short. Then agains he had never been good with decisions, it's a wonder StarClan made her leader of RiverClan.
The brown she-cat stared off, looking up at the darkening sky while Rayne gathered her thoughts. She could slowly see the bright stars lighting up in the sun-setting sky. Briarstar remembered her adopted mother telling her that every star in the sky is a fallen warrior, watching over the Clans.
"What if... I already... Know my answer?"
Briarstar lowered her head to a normal position, and looked at the gray she-cat, her amber eyes glowing in the darkening light. A smile forming in her mind, but a striaght face to be seen; this was a serious decision to join a Clan. If she left, she could never be forgiven.
"Let me remind you, that this is a very serious decision. If for some reason you join and then leave the Clan because it's too hard, or you think you don't fit in, I have no control because the cats won't be so forgiving. You would be hated by the Clan, even if it wasn't me, if you were seen, they would attack you."
Briarstar closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, she really didn't want to scare the loner, but she wanted the she-cat to think hard about what she was going to do.
"If you are honestly sure about this, let me know now, if not you still have time to think about it."
Briarstar kept her serious attitutde, and it showed through her eyes, she meant what she is saying, and she wanted this feline to take that into account. Yet, if she wanted to join, Briarstar was welcome to it.

Alright. This is good. This should be enough... thought Tigerpaw. The brown-and-black apprentice was moving along through the tall grasses around the horseplace, carrying two bundles of herbs with him, one under his chin and one in his jaws. It was catmint, a herb that he'd overheard some of the medicine cats discussing at the last gathering. Apparently, it was good for the treatment of greencough, so when he saw a patch of it growing near the horseplace, he thought he'd pick up some leaves for Minnowpaw. With the rain and the wind that they'd been experiencing lately, it would only be a matter of time before cats got sick. It was best to be prepared.
As always, he felt a twinge of guilt while he did this; he was a warrior apprentice- it wasn't his job to collect herbs. But, then again, every cat had to do what they could for their clan, and since he wasn't any good at hunting or fighting, this was the very least that he could do. Still, he wasn't sure if Briarstar or any of the other RiverClan senior warriors would approve. It was better to be cautious.
As such, he kept his ears pricked up for the sounds of nearby cats. Unfortunately, his nose was useless, as the strong, tempting aroma of catmint was wreathed all around his head. The bundle beneath his neck was slipping, and he lowered his head to adjust it as he stepped through a particularly thick patch of grass. When he looked up, he got a rather nasty surprise.
There, on the edge of the territory, a foreign cat. And, standing near her, looking quite stern, was-
"Briarstar!"
The apprentice couldn't stop himself from exclaiming aloud, and as his mouth opened, leaves of catmint dropped out and fluttered all over the place. Oh... that's it for me now... Tigerpaw thought miserably. There was no way that he wouldn't have been seen after that display. "Erm... who's this?" he asked, pointing his tail at the outsider. "She doesn't look like she's from the clan." Maybe, if he was lucky, she'd get distracted from him for a little bit.

The dark brown she-cat turned her head away from her companion when another, yet smaller cat called out her name. Peering closely at the new cat's pelt, she recognized him as one of the apprentices, his dark tabby pelt labeled him easily as Tigerpaw.
"Ah, Tigerpaw, this," flicking her tail in Rayne's direction, "is Rayne, she's the loner who has been staying in our territory near here. Rayne, this is one of the RiverClan apprentices, Tigerpaw."
She thought giving a proper introduction was the best thing, she didn't want Tigerpaw to go about in the Clan saying something he shouldn't. Yet, Briarstar knew the apprentice enough that he wouldn't have done that.
"Tigerpaw, Rayne and I have talked, and she has been interested in joining RiverClan for some time. She has until this next moon to tell me if she wishes to join after what I have said. Although what's keeping me here is the answer she says she has." Lifting her gaze, Briarstar watched the gray she-cat before finishing with Tigerpaw.
"Now, if she does join, she will be an apprentice and -- wait, what were you doing out here anyways Tigerpaw?"
Briarstar felt embarrassed at the fact that she didn't realize that Tigerpaw wasn't with his mentor, Fawnfeather, who was also Briarstar's deputy. The instance she realized that, she wondered what was going on back at Camp. She knew some of the cats didn't like her dicision about making Fawnfeather deputy. So she hoped that Tigerpaw would answer her quickly and not make up an excuse.
