Significance is a literate, intermediate to advanced Warriors role play. We role play with the five original clans: ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, ShadowClan and StarClan. We've been here for over two years and counting! We have friendly, knowledgeable members along with many unique cats to role play with. Come and find out yourself what we have to offer!

04/11/09 With the latest activity check coming to a close, it seems that we are slowing down before we speed up (hopefully!) The plot is planned to start after a few threads finish up and the gathering comes to an end. When that happens there will be a new skin, new images, and more! There are still high positions open so keep an eye on the side table and stats!
18/09/09 School's up and running, that's for sure! Homework, projects and tests have already popped up. Post when you can, anything is great. Now that the ceremonies are starting to come to a close the gathering that will start the plot is coming up! If everyone is able, we will have the said gathering next moon.
09/02/09 Congratulations to: Cedarclaw, Smallstar and Duskfeather! Faythe, Rowanwing and Fawnfeather! Breanna and Maplefeather! Tikker and Briarstar! Whitepaw and Littleleaf!... and Fernear and Miragesoul! All of these members and cats have been appointed into their specific clan's hierarchy. The clans almost have full ranking hierarchies! Great job everyone! Thank you to every member who has participated in the ceremonies and held the hope to grab one of these positions. We really appreciate it whether you got it or not. Now that the clans are up-to-date, the plot should be started next moon!
08/10/09 Congratulations to Heathclaw and Rustlestar! WindClan now has their new leader. Activity is high amongst the members we have but with ShadowClan and RiverClan in need of a new hierarchy we're in desperate need of more members to open the window of opportunity to more members: advertise is you'd like.. It'd help and I'd appreciate it :) Keep up the activity and enjoy the last few weeks of summer!
07/29/09 We planned on starting the plot this moon, but I think it may be tight with all the new leader and deputy threads. PM me your opinion! There's an activity up so go post! The summer is almost done but we've still got time to enjoy!
07/06/09 Yes, the new version is here! This plot will be on its way soon enough, you've received a PM about it. The money system is back, the rules have been updated and there are many interesting things to come with the plot! Hopefully the wait wasn't too bad, I hope it was worth it! Keep your eyes peeled for what's in store for Significance and its members!

High: 33°C, 91.4°F

Greenleaf is here and the land is definitely showing it. The plants and trees are as lush as the cats have seen in moons and the prey are just running from their dens into the cats' paws. The air is heavy and humid with only slight breezes every once in a while. The lake is swelling from all the frequent heavy rain storms.

Although this Character of the Month is played with by one of the newer members of Significance, we believe he really deserves it. This month, please give your congratulations to Faythe who plays this month's character of the month - Rowanwing! Faythe plays Rowanwing with a great deal of literacy, and he's a fun cat to be in a thread with. Faythe has a lovely way of role playing, and it's easy and fun to read her posts. Faythe, great job with your style of role playing and congratulations on having Rowanwing as this month's Cat of the Month!

How do I post pictures?
Number one, you'll have to upload it to a site like Photobucket or Tinypic. It'll then give you a selection of codes, choose the normal http code and wrap it in the [img][/img] HTML.

How do you make your font smaller?
You put this code before: before your text, and [*/size] after. Just remove the asterisks.

Are there apprentice ceremonies?
Yes there are apprentice ceremonies. These will happen whenever there's a kit ready to become an apprentice or an apprentice who does not/has not be given a mentor.

Do I have to find prospective parents?
A cat does not need to have their parents role played though they should be stated. Unless the litter s/he was in was birthed from a pair of the current cats the parents do not need to be role played.

If we make an apprentice, how do we go about getting a mentor?
The best way to get a mentor sorted out is to talk to the role player of the leader. You can talk about who's best fitted for it and when the thread should be created.

Where do we post the bios of kits from a litter born here?
You follow the guildlines in the kitting board.

Can I create another cat before my first one is accepted?
Yes you may.

Does a small scuffle have to be judged by a staff member?
If claws are unsheathed, and it includes 3 or more cats then yes. It will not be as formal as a battle, though.

Can my character have strangely colored eyes, like purple or black?
No.

Can my character have some mental disorder?
Not at the moment but you can create a mute, deaf, blind cat, diseased or anything less intense as a mentally ill cat.

Are we allowed to use names from the books?
We'd prefer it if you didn't but it's allowed.

I've seen a lot of this on the bios board, and it just confuses me a bit - what are the exact rules on cat names? Like, I see what's wrong with something like Roostertail, but "Windsong"?

There was a website that had a nice, detailed list of what was a traditional warrior name and what wasn't. The site was a bit snippy and bitter about "non-traditional" names appearing in the book series, but that's beside the point. Anyway, I can't seem to find the link to it, so I'll take a stab at some of the rules I remember.

General Rules:

1. Keep words simple, since cats don't know many eloquent words, or twoleg words. Hence, like you said, "Rooster" is unacceptable. Neither is crimson, or cap, or jet. Stuff like that. Soul and spirit are out too, since cats aren't spiritual. Y'know, beyond StarClan and such.

2. Cats aren't born with bad/evil names, since no queen wants their kit to grow into a bad/evil cat.

3. Star, Moon, and Sun are sacred to Clan Cats, and so cannot be used in names (except for leader suffixes, of course). Wind, Shadow, Thunder, and River are the same to a lesser degree, if I recall correctly. That's why "Windsong" may be a bit iffy.

4. The warrior name should describe something about the cat, preferably something that the cat is known for.

Prefixes:

Since the prefix is usually given within days of birth, it most often describes some physical trait of the cat. Personality traits and expectations aren't appropriate, because those can't be determined in the first few days.

Suffixes:

The suffix should go along with the prefix to describe the cat, either through their personality or their apperance. For example, Rustlepelt refers to the tom's long, rustling pelt of fur, while Lightheart refers to a cat's sense of levity. Light is also a synonym for white or bright, referring to the color of a cat's fur.

There's probably more to it than that; I just wish that I could find that site again.

Yeah, I can see the point of that, but I just have to complain about the Moon, Sun, Wind, Thunder, Shadow, and River rule :/ I'm strictly by the book, so reading Bluestar's Prophecy Made all of those okay for me.
But whatever P: I don't think the Hunters intended names to be a point of argument in the books. The only name that I've ever seen as completely stupid was "Echosong" <- I mean seriously. What does that explain about her? o_o

I understand where you're coming from, Breanna, and Heath has explained it thoroughly (thank you!) but Significance is based off the traditionalism of the first series and first book or two of the second, which is why some names from Bluestar's Prophecy may not be acceptable.
